I am currently Field Engineering Director, Aerospace & Defence, for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) at Wind River, managing a team of Field Application Engineer (FAE) subject matter experts working with aerospace and defence customers across EMEA.

I joined Wind River in 2000, and in my previous roles with the company I have been an Aerospace & Defence specialist for the UK & South Africa; Information Security (InfoSec) specialist for Europe focusing on Multiple Independent Levels of Security (MILS) architecture; and most recently, Principal Systems Architect with a particular focus on safety-critical avionics systems. In these roles I undertook pre-sales technical support and technical consulting.

Prior to joining Wind River, I developed UNIX software and device drivers for VME systems used in digital switching networks, and then spent six years working on multiprocessor DSP systems as a software developer and Field Applications Engineer supporting customers in the defence and telecoms markets.

I have a Bachelor of Science with Honours II(i) in Computer Science from the University of Manchester, and I have also attained Chartered Engineer (CEng), Chartered IT Professional (CITP) and European Engineer (Eur Ing) professional qualifications. I am currently a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering & Technology (FIET) and a Member of the British Computer Society (MBCS).

I have had over 100 creative works published, including conference papers, technical papers and journal articles relating to my professional interests. These include high-integrity and safety-critical systems, Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA), multi-core processor architectures and Information Security (InfoSec). These are listed on my publications page. I also blog on A&D industry issues on the Wind River blog network (search for "Parkinson") and LinkedIn.
